Passenger information
Privacy notice.
This explains what happens to the details you share when you enquire through terryfisher.com: what is collected, why, who else handles it, how long it is kept, and the rights you have. The short version: your details are used to reply to your enquiry, and nothing else.
Who is responsible
Terry Fisher is the controller of the personal data collected through this website. That means he decides how it is used and is responsible for looking after it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
For anything about your data, email terry@terryfisher.com with "Privacy" in the subject line.
If you enquire about V1 Energy Solutions using harry@v1-energy.com, that enquiry goes to V1 Energy Solutions, which handles it as a separate business under its own privacy terms.
What is collected
When you send a booking enquiry
The enquiry form asks for your name and email address, which are required so that Terry's team can reply. Everything else is optional: your organisation, phone number, event name, date, location, audience size, preferred format, budget range, how you heard about Terry, and anything you write in the message box.
When the form is submitted, the service that receives it (see Who else handles it) also records your IP address, your browser type and the page you sent it from, so that spam can be filtered out. If you arrived through a link that carries a campaign tag, that tag is saved with your enquiry so we can see which channels bring enquiries.
When you email directly
If you email one of the addresses on this site, including when the form falls back to opening your email app, we receive whatever you include in your email, along with your email address.
When you simply browse
Like almost every website, the hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information about each visit: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser type. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working. This site does not run analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and does not try to identify individual visitors.
How it is used
Your details are used only to:
- reply to your enquiry and discuss availability, fees and arrangements;
- prepare for and deliver a booking, if you go ahead;
- keep a record of the conversation, so we can pick up where we left off;
- protect the site and the enquiry form against spam and misuse.
The legal bases for this are:
- Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, when you ask about booking Terry.
- Legitimate interests, for replying to general, podcast and investment enquiries, keeping records of our conversations, and keeping the site secure. These interests do not override your own rights and interests.
- Legal obligation, for keeping the business and tax records a booking requires.
We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing unless you ask us to. We never sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decisions or profiling.
International transfers
Netlify and Cloudflare are based in the United States, and Microsoft may process data outside the UK. When personal data leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards the UK recognises, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for more detail on how a particular transfer is protected.
How long it is kept
- Enquiries that don't lead to a booking: kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, so we can follow up on dates that didn't work the first time, then deleted.
- Enquiries that lead to a booking: kept for as long as needed to deliver it, then for 6 years to meet UK accounting and tax rules.
- Hosting logs: kept by the hosting provider for a short period, as set out in its own policies.
You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner. See Your rights.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
- ask for data you gave us to be sent to you, or to someone else, in a common digital format.
To use any of these rights, email terry@terryfisher.com. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes and contact
If the way this site handles personal data changes, for example if analytics or a mailing list are added, this notice will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
